Terms and Conditions

I. Introduction

Before registering for the HEC Paris Business Game, you must read the rules below (hereinafter called the “Official Rules”). By completing the registration form, you accept the conditions of the Official Rules in their entirety. Furthermore, you accept that any decision of the HEC Paris Business Game staff concerning the HEC Paris Business Game shall be definitive.

II. The HEC Paris Business Game

  1. The HEC Paris Business Game (hereafter referred to as “HBG”) is a business game organized by HEC Paris students but also by students of different faculties and different universities.
  2. The purpose of the HBG is to familiarize students with the reality of the work that they will face in their professional life. Five different challenges subject to changes are organized: an Online Challenge, a Strategy challenge, a Digitalization challenge, a Marketing challenge, and a Finance challenge.
  3. The Game is based on an interactive economic simulation where the participants evolve within a defined competitive environment. The decisions made by the participants will affect their level of success.
  4. The Game will develop in six stages (whose order might be subject to changes): Stage 1: Registration; 2: Online Challenge and Participant Selection; Stage 3: Strategy Challenge ; Stage 4: Digitalization Challenge ; Stage 5: Marketing Challenge ; Stage 6: Finance Challenge.
  5. The Game will begin on the 24th of April 2020 and end on the 25th of April 2020.
  6. The final results will be announced at the game itself and on the HBG website, www.hecbusinessgame.com.

III. Participation

  1. Only individuals who are officially enrolled in a school or a university of higher education, and currently in a Master’s program (except MBA students) or in their last year of Bachelor’s program are eligible for participation at the HEC Paris Business Game (hereafter, they will be referred to as “the Students”). Students writing their thesis or doing the equivalent in order to obtain their diploma can also be considered as students.
  2. Participation in the HBG is subject to online electronic acceptance of the Official Rules and of the documentation concerning the assignment of the intellectual property and image rights.
  3. A financial contribution for registration will be required from each participant. Such fee shall cover participation as well as food and beverages during the two days. Please note that there will be no refunds.
  4. Accepted participants agree to provide HBG the authority to pass on their CVs and other materials submitted during the application process to potential sponsors and partners.

IV. Registration

  1. The Students can register as a sole participant or in teams of 2 (hereafter referred to as “Teams”). Single participants will be paired with another random single participant into a Team in the later stages of the application process. Teams can change any of the details used during their registration, and this until the date of the event. In such an event, Students are expected to contact the HBG team through the ‘contact us’ page on www.hecbusinessgame.com.
  2. The Teams must use the official registration form available on the official HBG website.
  3. It is imperative that every field be completed with valid answers. Incomplete registration forms will not be considered as eligible. The HBG team retains the right to retract and disqualify a candidate and his teammate if the information given in the above mentioned Registration Form is incorrect or invalid.
  4. At the time of Registration, the Teams will be requested to accept the Official Rules. Failure to do so will make submitting the Registration Form impossible. Acceptance of the Official Rules is done in the name of the Team.
  5. The two members of the Teams must provide a valid personal e-mail address.
  6. The HEC Paris Business Game reserves the right to verify the validity of the information provided by the Teams at the time of the Registration, at any time during the HBG, and if deemed necessary, to request copies of the identity cards and/or student cards of the school or university mentioned by the Team.
  7. Students can only be members of one Team. The presence of any Student in multiple teams will automatically result in the disqualification of every team in which s/he participated.
  8. If a team member decides to leave his/her Team, the Team will be disqualified. Only extreme cases (pregnancy, accidents, hospitalization, etc.) will be accepted, in which case the remaining participant will be asked to find a new teammate. The HEC Paris Business Game reserves the right to define an extreme case.
  9. Students must register under the first name and surname appearing on their passport/identity card.

The Human Resources Managers of the sponsors of the HEC Paris Business Game may, at their full discretion, use the Results of their challenge.
